WJS Enterprises Inc.’s Bill James Assumes Presidency of the Business
Technology Association (BTA)
BTA serves independent office technology dealerships nationwide
Bill James, systems support manager for WJS Enterprises Inc., with
offices in Metairie and Baton Rouge, La., recently assumed the 2009-2010
presidency of the Business Technology Association (BTA), a trade
association headquartered in Kansas City, Mo. As president, James
oversees the programs and services of the organization, which is
dedicated to providing educational and business development
opportunities to its 750 office technology dealership, manufacturer and
supplier members nationwide.
“It is an honor to serve in this BTA leadership position,” said James.
“Given the ever-changing nature of office technology and the predominant
role of independent dealerships in the distribution of that technology
today, this is an exciting time in our industry. I am looking forward to
helping to further strengthen the dealer channel of distribution in the
coming months.”
The 75th national president of the association, James has been a
long-time volunteer for the association at the local, district and
national level. He served as president-elect during BTA’s 2008-2008
fiscal year. He has also served as an instructor for BTA educational
programs.
James entered the industry upon graduation from Louisiana State
University where he earned a master of science in mathematics. After
first serving at Olivetti Corp. he started his own company, Micro
Programs, which provided software development and services. Later, with
a partner, he founded Micro Systems, a company that sold turnkey
accounting systems. He joined WJS Enterprises in 1991.
WJS Enterprises provides office technology, supplies and service to the
18 parishes of Southeastern Louisiana. The company also provides
products and support for oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico off
Louisiana’s southeastern coastline. WJS Enterprises is an authorized
dealership for Canon and Lexmark products.
Founded in 1926, the Business Technology Association serves office
technology dealerships, manufacturers, distributors and service
companies. Its core members — office technology dealerships — sell and
service hardware, software and supplies with the goal of helping
businesses to be more efficient and save money. Through the
association's various educational programs, information, research, legal
services, publications and guidance, BTA member dealerships are
positioned to be the premier source of the office technology used by
businesses throughout the United States every day. For more information
