LAKE SUCCESS, NY June 3, 2002 - Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of
Canon Inc. (NYSE: CAJ), today kicks off its seventh annual TECHNET
Conference, a two-and-a-half day interactive training conference for
imaging systems support professionals. As part of its goal to ensure the
highest level of expertise in its technical support ranks, Canon U.S.A.
sponsors this annual conference for participants from authorized Canon
dealers.
"Canon's TECHNET seminars enable our dealer support staff to keep
up-to-date with the rapid changes in digital technology in our
marketplace," said James Sharp, vice president and general manager,
Systems and Technical Support Division at Canon U.S.A. "Keeping our
Systems Engineers well-trained is a key component of our customer service
strategy and TECHNET offers wonderful opportunities for hands-on labs,
classroom instruction and 'from the field' information exchange,"
Sharp continued. "Canon is the only vendor in the industry offering a
program of this kind, and we're delighted with its success."
Since TECHNET began in 1996, enrollment has more than doubled, with
nearly 900 registrants expected to attend this year's training. Two
TECHNET seminars will be offered during the month of June. TECHNET EAST
will take place June 3 - 5 in Orlando, Florida at Disney's Contemporary
Resort and TECHNET WEST will be held in Anaheim, California at the
Disneyland Resort Hotel June 12 - 14.
The TECHNET seminars will include comprehensive technology modules that
focus on the newest generation of Canon's imageWARE Document Management
Suite of software, ColorPASS Controller Series software and hardware
updates, and Software Solutions, including NetSpot Accountant and the
newly announced imageWARE Publishing Manager and imageWARE Output Manager.
Each section offers an in-depth look at the new products and software,
with a special emphasis on hands-on lab exercises. All TECHNET attendees
receive extensive student reference manuals and documentation as a part of
their educational experience.
"TECHNET is just one example of Canon U.S.A.'s highly regarded
technical education program," said Arnold Tooma, director,
connectivity field support and training for Canon U.S.A. "We combine
valuable systems and software instruction with our service training
programs, and deliver this training through Certified Technical Trainers
